The Giociv Interactive Cat Ball is a hit
I’ve been working my way through a lot of the more high tech cat toys lately. And this week it was the Giociv interactive ball. I have to say this one has a lot going on for something that is essentially just a ball.
It’s round with these little ribbed sections and a detachable cat tail on it, comes with a replacement tail which is a nice touch because those are exactly the kind of thing that disappears immediately. Charging port on one side, power button on the other, lights up blue when it turns on and makes little chirping sounds while it moves around.
There are three speed modes on this one
There are three speed modes you toggle through with the power button, slow is pink, fast is blue, and there’s an interactive yellow mode, and the random movement is genuinely unpredictable in a way that I think keeps cats more engaged than something that just goes in circles.
It goes into standby after about five minutes of running and then kicks back on for a minute every hour after that so it’s not going to run itself into the ground or overstimulate your cat. It also responds to touch so if your cat bats at it while it’s in standby it’ll wake back up.
My final verdict
My cat, Jade is a senior cat so it took her a minute to warm up to it but it did get her attention and she kept coming back to check on it which for her is actually a pretty solid endorsement. I think for a younger cat this would be a much more intense situation.
