The toy that chirps like a real bird
I’ve been testing out different toys for Jade’s review lately and this one was a whole thing. It’s a little bird toy that actually chirps and flaps its wings and I was genuinely curious how she was going to react. She spends a lot of time staring at real birds through the window, so I figured this was either going to be the best purchase I’ve ever made or a complete disaster.
Cute and also rechargeable
The toy itself is cute, has this feathery tail and feels soft, and it charges via USB which I appreciated because I’m tired of buying batteries. There’s an on/off button inside and once it’s on it starts chirping and flapping on its own. But then after a bit, it goes quiet until something moves it and it starts up again. The motion activation thing is a nice touch because it means it’s not just sitting there making noise constantly.
So I turned it on and the chirping and flapping started and Jade’s reaction was… cautious. She approached it, sniffed it, watched it from across the room for a while. Did not pounce and did not go feral. Walked away. Which, she’s a senior cat and she has her own timeline for everything so I wasn’t totally surprised but I was also a little disappointed.
My final verdict
Here’s the thing though. Right when I was about to write it off she wandered back over and started sniffing it again while I was holding it so I think it might just be a slow burn situation with her. I genuinely think a younger cat who’s into chasing things would probably go crazy for this one. For Jade it might just take some time.
If your cat is younger and into birds I’d say grab it on Amazon ($14.99 at the time of this writing), it’s worth a shot. For senior cats maybe just manage your expectations a little.
